Mutaflor® capsules contain, as the active substance, the defined non-pathogenic strain Escherichia coli Nissle 1917 (EcN) and has been in clinical use for over 105 years.
The name Mutaflor, deduced from the Latin words mutare and flora, was meant to express the capability of the EcN strain to change the intestinal microflora by its antagonistic activity.
Mutaflor® is for the relief and management of chronic constipation. Your healthcare practitioner may also utilise this strain for its pharmacological, metabolic and immunomodulation properties.
The therapeutic effects of Mutaflor® are strain specific and have been demonstrated by in-vitro and in-vivo experiments and clinical studies, where the following properties and modes of action were detected.
